Why a Toy Fox Terrier?
The Toy Fox Terrier is a beautiful, small dog that is extremely delightful. They are happy, intelligent, active, hardy, and loyal to their human family. Toy Fox Terriers are healthy and active all of their lives. The Toy Fox Terrier is first a terrier and a toy only because of his size. He has no fear. Terriers are bred to hunt. Now, Toy Fox Terriers are bred mainly as watchdogs and companions in the home. But, his terrier instincts still remain.
No matter where he is at, the Toy Fox Terrier will hunt. It may be a mouse, or it just may be his stray toy. He is continuously alert for anything out of the ordinary. My Toy Fox Terriers still hunt squirrels, mice, rats, rabbits, and snakes. Basically they hunt anything else that can be hunted. I have seen them attack raccoons, big dogs, coyotes, armadillos, as well as horses, cows, and goats. Size does not matter to them. They have no fear. Toy Fox Terriers are active well into old age. They love children but learn to be cautious around them so that little hands cannot grab them. They can smell and hear a tiny morsel fall from a little one’s hands. They are very patient with children. Toy Fox Terriers are impossible to sneak up on. They can hear and smell anything. There are many Toy Fox Terriers that go to nursing homes and schools as therapy dogs because of their socialization skills and intelligence. Toy Fox Terriers make excellent therapy dogs because of their small size (making it easy for a patient to handle) along with their natural love of people and attention. A Toy Fox Terrier can be whatever you want him to be – he can be a clown and learn tricks, play catch, be a doll and play dress up. He can go on walks and out- walk you, or he can be a quiet companion while you read or watch TV. He is happiest when he is with you. |
